The data extension feature is currently available in the beta version and can be enabled in your account configuration. Including API methods, contact filters, and more. Retention Policy Data Extensions
The retention policy controls the mechanism that automatically removes extensions or data from extensions.
It is useful to remove data that continuously flows into data extensions , and whose relevance is age based.
The deletion time is imprecise The system guarantees that data won't be deleted before the limit is exceeded but deletion isn't immediate following that point.
Until absolute date
The data extension and the records in it are stored permanently
For a given time period on data extension level
The data extension will be deleted N time units after creation
For a given time period on data extension level (with addition on modification)
The data extension will be deleted N time units after creation . The duration is renewed each time a record is added, updated or deleted
For a time period on data records level
The data extension is permanent but single records will be deleted N time units after they were last modified
